The Keystone
Kops are a uniformed parade unit of
El Jebel Shrine.
Our parade uniforms are modeled after the Keystone Kops
uniforms from the 1920's. The uniform
consists of black trousers with a 3/4" gold stripe down the leg, a knee
length black coat with a single row of gold shrine buttons down the front and a
mandarin collar. We have a whistle and badge on the coat. Our hats are a gray
bobbies style hat.
The unit has a 1929 AA Ford Paddy Wagon that we use in the parades. We wear our
uniforms in parades, at all performances of the Shrine Circus,
and special events through out the year.
We also attend all Circus performances.
The Kops
make an effort to keep their Ladies involved in the
unit functions. The members of the unit and their Ladies have several social
functions during the year. Examples of these are dinners at various restaurants,
shows at different dinner playhouses, buffet meals at restaurants, country
clubs, lunches after parades, coffee and rolls prior to parades, pot-luck meals
at members homes, and tours of different locations such as Coors Field or Norad.
If you would like to meet the
Kops and join
in some real fun, please
visit us at one of our meetings, one of our social events, or at one of the
parades.
Give one of these Kops
a call if you have any questions.
