El Jebel Medical Staff Telemedicine Patient Follow-up Clinics Our pioneering Telemedicine Program enables children who are being treated by the various Shrine Hospitals to have their progress monitored without requiring them and their parent or guardian travel to those hospitals. Instead, they come to Children's Hospital in Denver where they receive first-hand attention by qualified medical personnel, and at the same time their progress is reviewed remotely by one of the Shrine Hospital Staff in Salt Lake City via an electronic television link. The Telemedicine Program allows for greater and more frequent patient monitoring, without the need for the additional trips to the treating hospitals. This program not only eliminates the need for parents to take off work to accompany the child to the hospital for these regular check ups, but also reduces unnecessary transportation expenses allowing those funds to be better used for actual patient care.
